The guest rooms are simple in design but well built. We used clay bricks that are produced here on the island and an anti-seismic construction of reinforced concrete (a good design considering that we’re located at the foot of a volcano and in front of another that is still active). The roof is crafted with cedar rafters and a high ceiling with a liner to minimize thermal radiation. The building was oriented to take advantage of the characteristics of the land and the local climatic conditions: prevailing winds, natural light and the spectacular views of the lake and the volcanoes. Finally, the building is surrounded by lush tropical gardens with flowers that attract thousands of butterflies, hummingbirds and various other species all of which you can observe from the comfort of your hammock.

The rooms are quite large and have excellent natural ventilation. Opposing windows on the front and back walls provide a continuous breeze over your bed.  Lines of open brick work (called decorados) on the top of the walls, typical in tropical houses here, allow the hot air to escape. The windows and the open brick areas are screened to stop insects and to allow uninterrupted flow of air from the lake breezes.

The beds are equipped with inner spring mattresses, mattress pads and bed linens of comfortable cotton. Tall people will be happy to find there are no footboards on the beds. To make you feel even more at home, we’ve decorated the walls with Nicaraguan paintings and artwork that gives a human touch to the rooms.

The bathrooms are also large and well lit with lights well-placed for your grooming needs. A skylight provides natural solar light which keeps the bathroom dry and free of mildew and dampness which is so common in the tropics.

The verandah is wide and breezy, equipped with hammocks and rocking chairs and blessed with some of the most impressive views on the island and an almost constant cool breeze from the lake.

If that’s not enough, the farm has an area of more than 10 acres where we are sure you will find the perfect place to relax and contemplate nature.
